Mongolia Focus
Since the early 1990’s, CSA Global has been involved with a variety of exploration and mining projects in Central Asia. Over the last five years of working closely with these regions, we have seen an increase in demand for our services in Mongolia, a country rich in resources and one of the true frontier markets.
Recent statistics show that in 2009 the mining and quarrying sector accounted for 63 per cent of Mongolia’s gross industrial output. The country’s major resource deposits are coal, copper, molybdenum, fluorspar, tin, tungsten, uranium and gold. To date, only 15 per cent of the country has been geologically surveyed.
There are also over 6000 deposits of around 80 different minerals in Mongolia. Only 400 of these have been defined and of this number approximately 160 are currently been mined.
CSA Global is currently working on copper, gold and coal projects in Mongolia, and we are supplying expert exploration and resource estimation services from both our Perth and Jakarta offices. In September, Jeff Elliott (Managing Director) and Gerry Fahey (Director) attended the Discover Mongolia Conference in Ulaanbaatar.
Based on our past and present experience in the region, CSA Global sees the future of working in Mongolia as one of growth and further opportunity. For further information on our Mongolian and Asian capabilities please contact jeff.elliott@csaglobal.com
