PERTH, WESTERN AUSTRALIA – August 8, 2022 – CSA Global (an ERM Group company) is pleased to announce Dr Francois Grobler’s appointment to the role of Principal Consultant- Valuation in Perth, Western Australia.
Manager-Corporate, Ivy Chen, stated: “We are delighted to welcome Francois to the Corporate team. Francois has several decades worth of experience in the application of geological, mining engineering, mining techno-economic and financial evaluation principles. His specialised skills in risk assessment and analysis, statistical and data analytics, including mineral economics, will add to the depth of skills within the team.”
Francois has worked in various principal roles across Australia and South Africa and, more recently, with Dassault Systèmes, as the Senior Portfolio Manager in mine planning and design.
In his new role, Francois will undertake technical consulting across process optimisation, simulation, risk analysis, and operational cost and efficiency improvements for CSA Global’s client base globally. This will enable clients to explore more scenarios to make more robust decisions which include appreciation of the probabilistic (uncertain) nature of their business.
Ivy further added: “With an interest in ESG, Francois will relish the challenge presented by the strengthening requirements for ESG disclosure in the minerals sector. His challenge is to quantify how value is impacted and enhanced by policies that help to manage the impacts of climate change, energy efficiency, achieving carbon zero and conversely, how value may be eroded by poor adherence to ESG priorities.”
Commenting on his appointment, Francois stated: “I am very excited to be joining a forward thinking and leading industry consulting group such as CSA Global. Within my new role in the Corporate team, I look forward to many opportunities and challenges to explore in assisting clients, but also working with the extended global team within CSA Global and our parent company, ERM. I hope to also be exploring opportunities to introduce lesser used advanced decision-making approaches such as probabilistic modelling, scenario analysis, optimisation and simulation to further enhance clients’ abilities in decision making.”
Francois has conducted technical reviews and mining asset valuations on various commodities, including gold, base metals, coal, diamonds, and industrial minerals, under various global jurisdictions and reporting codes. He has authored several publications, including his most recent, forming part of his PhD thesis: Optimised Decision-Making under Grade Uncertainty in Surface Mining.
