A Better Understanding Of Exploration Geochemistry
1 day | $500 + gst

Course Summary

Multi-element geochemistry is one of the most powerful tools available to an exploration geologist; it is also a tool that many skilled and seasoned practitioners struggle with day to d
Designing effective geochemical sampling programs, managing large multi-element databases, and correctly interpreting the data are critical disciplines for an exploration geologist to master. To explore effectively, we must integrate a diverse range of data; but geochemistry is the one dataset that directly identifies (and quantifies) mineralisation. Therefore, it warrants special attention! Critical issues facing clients when managing and interpreting their geochemical data will be addressed in this course.

Who is this course for?

This one-day course is designed for moderately to highly experienced exploration geologists who wish to extend their skills in geochemistry. Knowledge of ioGAS is not required. Our facilitator will work systematically through each exercise, allowing time for note taking by participants.

This course is available as onsite and customised training.

Online Professional Certificate in JORC Code Reporting
8 weeks (40H) | 6 online modules

Course Summary

The Australasian Code for Reporting of Exploration Results, Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves (‘the JORC Code’) is a professional code of practice that sets minimum standards for public reporting of minerals exploration results, mineral resources and ore reserves. Alongside leading experts in the mining industry, AusIMM has developed the Online Professional Certificate in JORC CODE Reporting for resources professionals to understand how to report effectively and in accordance with the JORC Code.

Who is this course for?

This course will develop an in-depth understanding of the JORC Code and its application while learning from industry experts and alongside peers in an interactive environment.

This course is available online.

Introduction to Geological Databases
1 day

Course Summary

A geological database is one of the most valuable assets of a mining company. It contains the evidence required to make many strategic decisions and includes the primary data used to estimate resources and reserves. The creation and maintenance of a successful geological database requires careful planning and consideration. Geologists, exploration managers or database administrators are responsible for collecting large volumes of data that will help to increase productivity and effectiveness. We will demonstrate how to design, develop, maintain, and verify geological databases to ensure their physical and logical integrity.

Who is this course for?

This one-day course is designed for geologists, metallurgists, and engineers interested in working with geological and drill hole databases. You will learn the minimal essentials and gain practical insights to SQL, Access, and SQLite.

This course is available in classroom, on site and online.

Introduction to Machine Learning
2 days

Course Summary

Machine learning is a collection of computer algorithms that iteratively learn from data how to solve problems with minimal human intervention. This technique has been used successfully to predict exploration targets, classify rocks, and generate automatic 3D geological interpretations, among other applications. Its popularity in the mining industry is growing at an accelerated rate and will become an essential tool in the near futur

Who is this course for?

This two-day training course is designed for geologists, geophysicists or professionals working in the mining industry. Be introduced to the practice and theory of machine learning.

This course is available in classroom, on site or online.
