Mine Water Management – Project Water Balance, Dewatering, Process Supply

CSA Global has undertaken Life of Mine water balance planning to understand water management requirements and timings for the Project. Dewatering (and associated pit void storage) is about to commence. Early planning is now underway to assess process water supply options to ensure sufficient water for site requirements in the longer term. Study outcomes will be applied to PFS and environmental approvals.

Due Diligence Review of Mine Water Supply & Water Management

CSA Global completed a Fatal flaw and due diligence review of the Khoemacau Copper Project in Botswana which included a review of the water managements aspects to facilitate progression of the project from Definitive Feasibility Study through to Front-End Engineering Design phase. The review was completed in numerous phases over a two year period, it included a site visit and review of mine inflows, dewatering design, surface water management, water balance, tailings storage facility and water supply security for the life of mine.

Pre-Feasibility Study & Definitive Feasibility Study of New Liberty Combined Project
SCOPE
CSA Global has carried out a hydrogeological field investigation, data analysis and interpretation, groundwater modelling, mine inflow evaluation and surface water management for a combined new underground mine at the New Liberty open pit mine and development of a new open pit at the Ndablama satellite orebody. Our team is currently completing the hydrological and hydrogeological aspects of the ongoing Definitive Feasibility Study for the combined project.

Principal Consultant – MineWater Management
Damien has over 20 years’ experience in hydrogeology, mining and structural geology and has managed technical services to clients in the resource and mining sector. He has considerable expertise in conceptualising complex groundwater systems – applied to mine dewatering strategies, surplus water disposal solutions, project water supplies, pit voids at mine closure, right through to groundwater impact assessments and ecohydrological studies to enable environmental approvals. Damien has worked on projects across Australia, West Africa and Indonesia and possesses significant experience in the Pilbara and was involved in the five-year planning and life of asset water management planning for BHP Billiton Iron Ore. Over the years, Damien has led many multi-disciplinary studies to deliver feasibility study and environmental approvals outcomes for water, including management of hydrogeological field investigations, and has applied stakeholder management to several production planning projects, inclusive of investment evaluations, and biodiversity and environmental approvals. Damien is committed to using holistic mine water management with an integrated operational and environmental focus to projects.
