PERTH, AUSTRALIA – NOVEMBER 5, 2018 – CSA Global welcomes Principal Consultant – Geometallurgy, Dr Louisa O’Connor to its headquarters in Perth, Western Australia.
Louisa has more than 18 years’ geoscience, mineralogy and geometallurgical experience across a range of mineral deposits including copper, lead-zinc, gold, diamonds, iron ore, bauxite, heavy mineral sands and rare earths.
She has previously served roles across BHP Billiton, Bureau Veritas, the Fortescue Metals Group, The Julius Kruttschnitt Mineral Research Centre and the Western Australian School of Mines.
More recently, Louisa was employed by AXT as the advisor for plant optimisation, geometallurgical scoping and process mineralogy.
During her time with The University of Queensland’s JKTech Louisa worked on complex geometallurgical solutions for AngloGold Ashanti’s Sunrise Dam operations in Western Australia and Barrick Gold’s Lumwana copper-gold operation in Africa.
Managing Director, Jeff Elliott stated: “Louisa has a diverse background across consulting, operations, testing and research, and is an accomplished technical manager and leader. She will be a great asset to our team and will focus on the design, implementation and management of geometallurgy investigations and resource evaluation programs.”

Louisa has sat on several committees, including the AusIMM Perth Branch Committee and Geoscience Committee, and as Deputy Chair for the AusIMM Geometallurgical Conference.
She has written and co-authored several papers in the past decade; including “Geometallurgy – Beyond Conception” and “Geometallurgical Study of a Gravity Recoverable Gold Orebody.”
