CSA Global is proud to be a partner and keynote speaker at The Geological Society of Australia Earth Sciences Student Symposium 2019 (GESSS-WA) on 29 November 2019 at Curtin University in Western Australia.
Consultant Geologist, Dr Rob Holm will discuss his research to date on Papua New Guinea and outline the pros and cons of trying to balance research and career progression; all while navigating through university to his current position with CSA Global.
Dr Holm’s research will outline:
- Reinterpreting the tectonic evolution of Papua New Guinea with widespread implications for our understanding of plate tectonics in the southwest Pacific.
- Provide a benchmark understanding for the formation of both minerals and oil & gas systems in Papua New Guinea to inform prospectivity and exploration in the region.
- The founding of the Papua New Guinea Geoscience Network, a new initiative to promote geoscience in Papua New Guinea and bring together the next generation of researchers and geologists.
GESSS-WA is a divisional student-run conference is a new initiative of the Geological Society of Australia (GSA) that allows Honours, Masters and PhD students to present their research to the local scientific community, to gain experience in communicating their research findings through oral and poster presentations, to promote their talents to future employers, to discover areas of research at other universities, or departments, and to meet new people in the Earth Sciences field.
