We are pleased to announce Principal Consultant Data, Maria Combrink as the keynote speaker for the Electra Mining Expo in Africa.
Maria will present on “Technologies that are paving more paths for women in mining” between 5-9 September 2022 at the Johannesburg Expo Centre, South Africa.
Electra Mining is one of Southern Africa’s largest trade show across the mining, electrical, automation, manufacturing, power and transport industries, featuring new technologies, ground-breaking machinery and equipment, cutting-edge products, systems and services across the mining industry.
Abstract:
With the emergence of new technologies, the face of the mining industry is starting to change. Recent studies have shown that the physical demands of the mining industry and unfavourable work-life conditions may ultimately interfere with a career in mining. Maria will delve deep into data and analytics and examine how technologies like automation, scheduling, and cloud hosting can influence the future workplace. This type of workplace can ultimately engage women to follow technical positions, helping to break down gender stereotypes and encourage women to forge successful careers in data science across the mining sector.
