CSA Global congratulates Matthew Cobb on his election to the AIG Federal Council & WA Working Committee Branch

PERTH, AUSTRALIA – JUNE 15, 2018 – CSA Global is pleased to announce the election of Principal Resource Geologist, Matthew Cobb to the Australian Institute of Geoscientists (AIG) Federal Council and the Western Australia Working Committee Branch of the AIG.

Matthew will act as the national Chair of the Reciprocal Recognitions Committee, for dealings with International Registered Professional Organisations (RPOs) while serving on the Federal Council.

The Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) in 2003 introduced new procedures identifying RPOs as accredited organisations to which Competent Persons must belong to assist in the preparation of reports on Exploration Results, Minerals Resources and Ore Reserves for submission to the ASX.

Subsequent, to his role in the Federal Council, Matthew will perform in the role of RPO Board Representative under the AIG WA Working Committee and will be responsible for reviewing applications from a professional organisation seeking to become an RPO.

Commenting on the announcement, Matthew said: “I feel extremely privileged to be elected as a member of the AIG Federal Council, and I look forward to contributing to ensure that the AIG remains a key representative body for the geoscientific community both in Australia and abroad.”

He joins CSA Global Manager – Eastern Australia, Patrick Maher who was elected to the Federal Council in May 2016, and CSA Global Manager – Corporate, Graham Jeffress who is presently undertaking the role of JORC Liaison in Western Australia.

CSA Global’s Manager – Resources, Aaron Meakin congratulated Matthew on his appointment adding: “Matthew is a hard-working, dedicated geoscience professional who has extensive experience in resource estimation and mining geology. Given his technical ability and work ethic, I am confident that his involvement and skills we be of great assistance to the AIG Federal Council and WA Working Committee. We have a long association with the AIG, and we look forward to continuing our strong relationship with this significant professional geoscience organisation.”

Matthew is a geologist with more than 18 years’ experience in research, exploration, resource estimation and mining geology. Matthew’s key experience includes resource estimation/simulation using linear and non-linear methods, due diligence, resource review and process improvement within the mining value chain. He has a PhD in Geology and a Master of Science in Geostatistics.

The first meeting of the newly elected AIG Federal Council will be held on July 6, 2018.
