In the latest Money News Podcast segment, Australian Financial Analyst and Nine Network’s business and finance editor, Ross Greenwood interviews CSA Global Principal Geologist, Sam Ulrich on the sale announcement of Barrick Gold’s Super Pit gold mine in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Western Australia.
Owned jointly by Barrick Gold and Newmont, Barrick Gold recently revealed Northern Star Resources is amongst the front runners for its stake in the Super Pit.
The Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines (KCGM) Super Pit joint venture between Barrick and Newmont Goldcorp has been the topic of M&A discussions since at least 2015 and rumoured that a deal for the Western Australian mine involving Northern Star would be announced at the Diggers and Dealers Mining Forum last week, but talks fell through.
