North America Gold Mines Quarterly Summary to 30 June 2020

Welcome to the latest edition of the North America Gold Mines Quarterly Summary produced by CSA Global.

For the quarter ending 30 June 2020 reported gold production totalled 2.4 Moz, with the USA producing more than Canada. Barrick Gold’s and Newmont’s Carlin mine in the USA was the largest gold producer with 382,000 oz, followed by their Cortez mine (215,000 oz) in the USA and Kirkland Lake’s Detour Lake mine (131,992 oz) in Canada.

The average gold price (London PM Fix) for the quarter was US$1,711/oz. The average reported All-in Sustaining Costs (AISC) was US$1,243/oz and to be considered in the lowest cost quartile an AISC of less than or equal to US$911/oz was required. The mine with the lowest reported AISC was Barrick Gold’s and Newmont’s Long Canyon mine in the USA with an AISC of US$430/oz, this was followed by St Barbara’s Atlantic Gold mine (US$703/oz) in Canada and Hecla Mining’s Nevada operations (US$769/oz) in the USA.
