Welcome to the latest edition of the North America Gold Mines Quarterly Summary produced by CSA Global.
For the quarter ending 31 March 2021 reported gold production totalled 2.7 Moz, with Canada producing more than the USA. Barrick Gold’s and Newmont’s Carlin mine in the USA was the largest gold producer with 373,000 oz, followed by Agnico Eagle and Yamana Gold’s Canadian Malartic mine (179,100 oz) in Canada and Barrick Gold’s and Newmont’s Cortez mine (163,000 oz) in the USA.
The average gold price (London PM Fix) for the quarter was US$1,793/oz. The average reported All-in Sustaining Costs (AISC) was US$1,267/oz and to be considered in the lowest cost quartile an AISC of less than or equal to US$947/oz was required. The mine with the lowest reported AISC was Barrick Gold’s and Newmont’s Long Canyon mine in the USA with an AISC of US$156/oz, this was followed by their Phoenix mine (US$530/oz) in the USA and Fortitude Gold’s Isabella Pearl mine (US$575/oz) in the USA.
