The Australasian Code for Reporting of Exploration Results, Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves (‘the JORC Code’) is a professional code of practice that sets minimum standards for public reporting of minerals exploration results, mineral resources and ore reserves.
This course has been specifically designed for resources professionals responsible for drafting JORC Code Reports (e.g. Competent Persons or aspiring Competent Persons). In eight-weeks you will develop an in-depth understanding of the JORC Code, including recognising obligations and liabilities, demonstrating its correct applications across different industries, and appropriately applying the Code in the reporting environment under the ASX and ASIC.
About the Course
The eight-week course consists of six modules delivered over six weeks, with two additional weeks to complete a final assignment. Each of the six modules contains a 90-minute live webinar delivered by two industry experts. The weekly webinars will be recorded and can be viewed at a later date if participants are unable to attend the live session.
Throughout the course participants will engage in interactive learning activities facilitated by industry experts, that can be completed in their own time within that module week. Additional associated learning resources will be provided such as real-life case studies and bespoke videos.
The final assignment implements newfound knowledge with opportunity for personalised feedback from expert facilitator. A professional certificate awarded upon completion of all learning activities and final assignment.

Meet CSA Global Facilitators
Ivy Chen – MAusIMM
Principal Consultant, CSA Global
Ivy is a corporate governance specialist with more than 30 years’ experience in mining and resource estimation. She served as the national geology and mining adviser for the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) from 2009–2015 and is currently Principal Consultant at CSA Global. Ivy’s experience in the mining industry in Australia and China, as an operations and consulting geologist includes open pit and underground mines for gold, manganese and chromite. As a consulting geologist she has conducted mineral project evaluation, strategy development and implementation, through to senior corporate management roles. Ivy joined the VALMIN committee in 2015.
Dr Matt Cobb – MAusIMM
Principal Resource Geologist, CSA Global
Matthew is a geologist and geostatistician with more than 12 years’ experience in exploration, mine geology, due diligence and resource estimation. Matthew’s focus is tailored resource modelling solutions from discovery to grade-control, drawing from a broad range of methods including non-linear and multivariate techniques, with a focus on producing geology driven models using the simplest fit-for-purpose technique. Matthew’s experience includes projects in the Pilbara, WA Goldfields, Eastern Africa, Turkey and Asia.
Graham Jeffress – FAusIMM CP
Principal Consultant / Manager – Corporate, CSA Global
Graham is a geologist with more than 30 years’ experience in exploration and management in Australia, PNG and Indonesia, working for companies large and small, government, and in consulting. He has worked in exploration (ranging from grassroots reconnaissance through to brownfields, near-mine, and resource definition), project evaluation and mining. Graham manages CSA Global’s corporate services, providing expert technical reviews, valuations, and independent reporting services under CRIRSCO-family codes. Graham was a Federal Councillor of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists for 11 years and joined the Joint Ore Reserves Committee in 2014, where he is a member of the executive committee.
